Spain only became a single-faith country in 1492, as a result of the Catholic monarchs' decision to expel all non-Christians. Before that, the country had been populated by Molsem Moors, Jews and Christians all of whom had lived in relative harmony for centuries. Their cultures, though separate and individual, did see a degree of interdependence which also informed the developing musical traditions. Here, music from all three traditions is expertly performed to display the music of all Spain in the years leading up to the voyage of Christopher Columbus.
