Since its foundation in 1976, Lontano has established itself as one of Britain's most exciting and versatile exponents of new music. Its work includes themed seasons in London, opera and music-theatre productions, workshops and educational projects, concerts and tours throughout the world and most recently regular recordings on its own Lorelt label.

Lontano has a very good reputation aboad and the group's tours have included Much of Europe, the USA, Canada and South and Central America. The ensemble's programmes are highly regarded for providing a platform to under-represented composers.
