| Douglas Lawrence was born in Melbourne in 1943, educated at the University of Melbourne, and at the Musikhochschule in Vienna. He is Master of the Chapel Music at Ormond College, and Director of Music and Principal Organist at the Scots' Church, Melbourne.
His international career began in 1970 with a concert on the oldest playable organ in the world, at Sion in Switzerland. He has since given over 2500 performances worldwide. He performs a wide range of music and has given many first performances of works. Douglas Lawrence has made many recordings and has been honoured by the Government of Australia for his services to music. |
