25001 Cantatas from the Georgian Drawing-room |
|
Concert Royal was one of Britain's earliest "authentic-instrument" ensembles. Formed in the early 1970s, the group has retained its original membership to this day. With the assistance of an award from the Arts Council, the group set about researching and performing several of the secular chamber cantatas which were written for solo voice and small ensemble in the eighteenth century. They have a wide repertoire of works from this period. Concert Royal are: Margarette Ashton (soprano) Peter Harrison (baroque flutes) Rachel Gray (cello) and John Treherne (harpsichord). On their CD "Cantatas from the Georgian Drawing Room" they were joined by violinist Julia Black Peter Harrison and Rachel Gray have also recorded for us with flautist Lesley Holliday Concert Royal Website: http://www.classical-artists.com/concertroyal For bookings etc contact Peter Harrison, 25 Turner’s Croft, Heslington, York YO10 5EL tel: 01904 410298 |
