Andreas Boyde was born in Oschatz, Germany. He studied with Christa Holzweißig and Amadeus Webersinke in Dresden, then in London with James Gibb. A major influence was his mentor and promoter Malcolm Frager.
Andreas Boyde is now one of the most sought after German pianists of his generation. He has played in many great international concert venues such as the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Royal Festival Hall London, the Cologne Philharmonic Hall, the Zurich Tonhalle, the Munich Herkulessaal, the Symphony Hall Birmingham, the Berlin Konzerthaus, the Wigmore Hall London, the Hamburg Musikhalle, the Bridgewater Hall Manchester, the Teatro Municipal Santiago de Chile, the Leipzig Gewandhaus, the Rudolfinum Prague, the Dresden Opera House, the Konzert- und Kongreßzentrum Lucerne, the Stuttgart Liederhalle and in numerous countries such as Chile, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Great Britain, Holland, Israel, Italy, Malaysia, Romania, Slovakia, Switzerland, the Ukraine and the USA.
Andreas Boyde has played with many renowned orchestras, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Prague Radio Orchestra, the Zürcher Kammerorchester, the Bamberger Symphoniker, the Hallé Orchestra Manchester, the Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra, the London Mozart Players, the Berliner Sinfonieorchester, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, the Bucharest Philharmonic Orchestra, the Dresdner Philharmonie, the National Symphony Orchestra of the Ukraine, the Israel Northern Symphony Orchestra, the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland.
In 1998 Andreas Boyde gave the European premiere of the Piano Concerto Four Parables by Paul Schoenfield with the Dresdner Sinfoniker. In August 2000 with the same orchestra he gave the first performance of John Pickard’s Piano Concerto, which was also dedicated to him.
In 2000 Hofmeister Leipzig published Andreas Boyde’s reconstruction of the Schubert Variations by Robert Schumann. The world premiere of this reconstruction was given as part of a Schumann recital by Andreas Boyde in New York, followed by a tour of important venues in Germany and the UK.
His future plans include an extended tour encompassing the complete piano works by Brahms, which he will also record on CD.
Andreas Boyde has made many recordings for both radio and television. His CDs include works by Schumann, Tchaikovsky, Dvorak, Schoenfield, Mussorgsky, Ravel, Brahms and Rachmaninoff.
