| With a huge spire and sturdy tower, the Church, affectionately known as "OLEM", is one of the landmark buildings in Cambridge. One of the largest Roman Catholic churches in the UK, it was consecrated in 1890 and now serves a large congregation and has developed a rich liturgical and musical tradition. The two choirs sing every Sunday at the morning and evening Solemn Masses. Their repertoire ranges from Gregorian chant, polyphony, music from the European classical period, right up to the best of the modern composers. The choirs are made up of experienced singers, many of whom have sung in Cambridge college chapels, cathedrals and local chamber choirs. They feature regularly on BBC Radio. |
